The film surveys the social activity of Jaroslav Šabata that covered the whole period of Czechoslovak and Czech post-war history. From a Moravian farm through the high tiers of the Communist Party, opposition to the entry of occupant armies in 1968, imprisonment during the so-called normalisation, activity in Charter 77, down to the effort to make space for the new possibilities of democracy within the Czechoslovak Socialist Democratic Party. The present and the history from the perspective of political struggle and its reconstruction through dialogue in the presence of Jaroslav Šabata, his family and other figures of public life.
