Krajský soud v Brně
The trial of Gestapo Criminal Councilor Otto Koslowski
The end of the war did not bring only the long-awaited peace—it also raised a number of fundamental questions for society. How should we deal with Nazis? Are we responsible for what our homeland and fellow citizens do in our name?
Brno was the first city to establish a special people’s court after the war. Historical sources even suggest that it was created as a barrier against spontaneous executions and unsanctioned trials. But what is justice, really? And how should we confront the darker sides of our past?
The audience will have a unique opportunity to witness a reenactment of one such extraordinary trial—right in the actual courtroom of the Regional Court in Brno, where the original proceedings took place.
