Tugendhat Villa
Two years have passed since November 1989, and debates about a new form of state organization that would finally bring about the promised greater autonomy for both parts of Czechoslovakia are reaching their peak. What initially seemed like a revision of mutual relations now threatens to become a definitive breakup. The dialogue between then-Czech Prime Minister Václav Klaus and Slovak Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar promises an exciting clash of two contradictory yet somehow similar men. How much was the breakup of Czechoslovakia influenced by our different histories? What were we willing to do to ensure the other side wanted to continue living in a shared state? And did the breakup of the republic primarily result from the egos of both central politicians? How the decision to divide the country was made will be exclusively shown to viewers at the Tugendhat Villa, which is inextricably linked to it.
