Merry-Go-Round-Go-Round – Exhibition

A ruined, abandoned merry-go-round turns only with difficulty. A dying horse is surveying the empty seats, redolent of those who used to fill them with life.

The artists of Leipzig’s Schaubühne Lindenfels – René Reinhardt, Elisabeth Schiller-Witzmann, Thadeusz Tischbein and Robert Frenzel – will install in Mendlovo náměstí an anti-war monument, which is part of the international project “Zucker.Rausch.Germania” (Sugar.Intoxication.Germania) which is also taking place in Berlin, Leipzig and Strasbourg. German crimes committed during the war and the subsequent expulsion of German-speaking people tore at the roots of the city’s cultural identity. Created in collaboration between the Leipzig artists and the Meeting Brno festival team, this installation will also commemorate public figures who once lived and worked in Brno.

The art installation will be in operation from Thursday, July 29, to Sunday, August 1, 2021, always from 8 am to 10 pm.
