The subsidiary Auschwitz concentration camp in Brno – walk
The fact that the buildings of today’s Bishop’s high school in Brno served as a part of the Auschwitz concentration camp for 250 Polish and German prisoners from 1943 until the liberation in May 1945 remains an almost forgotten part of history. Apart from the main three concentration camps in Auschwitz-Birkenau, there were no less than 44 other subsidiary camps located mostly in Upper Silesia and Sudetenland. Historian Táňa Klementová will explain the reasons behind the creation of the camp in Brno, its poor living conditions and the attitude of the Czech society towards it.
The meeting point is at Všetičkova bus stop.
Programme will be held in Czech only.
