Wisdom of a Trauma

Martina Viktorie Kopecká and David Macek will moderate a discussion that will provide insights into the descendants of Shoah survivors. Their guests will be Eva Lustigová, daughter of Arnošt Lustig and a writer, director and founder of the Arnošt Lustig Foundation and conductor Tomáš Hanus.

Eva Lustigová has worked at the World Health Organization as a project manager in the field of AIDS prevention and youth and women’s health. Her focus was on human resources, equal employment opportunities, and living conditions for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Today, she focuses on her father’s artistic and humanistic legacy.

Conductor Tomáš Hanus has collaborated with the Czech Philharmonic, the Brno Philharmonic and others. He directed the opera at the National Theatre Brno and was involved in the revival of the Janáček Brno Festival. He has also worked abroad: at the Vienna State Opera and Finnish National Opera, and has collaborated with a number of major musical ensembles. At present, he is the artistic director of the Welsh National Opera.
